It was a sad weekend for General Hospital’s Anthony Montgomery (Andre) as he shared on his Instagram page that his grandmother had passed away.
A Sad Loss For Anthony Montgomery
Alongside a beautiful photo of his grandmother, Montgomery wrote: “Yesterday was one of the most painful days of my life. My family lost our matriarch. I lost my grandma. My anchor. And the world lost one of the most beautiful souls to walk the Earth.”
It was about 10 weeks ago that Montgomery posted a photo of him and his “96-year-young” grandmother and first mentioned his grandmother’s health issues on his Instagram.
“I know I’ve gained an angel but my grandma was my life,” he wrote on his most recent post. “I’m gonna miss her. So much. 96 years is a wonderful life’s journey and I’m so thankful that God blessed us with her for such a long time. I’m in agony over losing her but my spirit is beyond grateful that she’s not in pain anymore. Rest in Paradise, grandma. I love you, beautiful lady.”
Among those sending their condolences were current and former General Hospital co-stars Risa Dorken (Nurse Amy), Michelle Stafford (ex-Nina; Phyllis, The Young and the Restless), Brytni Sarpy (ex-Valerie; Elena, YR), and Finola Hughes (Anna).
Former Ambitions star Brely Evans, who played Montgomery’s wife in the 2015 movie The Man in 3B, posted her love and support as well.
“I’ve lost my Granny so I do have a sense of what [you’re] going through,” she said. “Cherish the memories and continue to make her proud. She is forever with you now!”
