Valentin arrived at General Hospital obsessed with Anna. Seems that, once upon a time, when they were both with the World Security Bureau, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) was a disfigured hunchback -and Anna (Finola Hughes) was nice to him. He fell in love with her, and she rejected him.
So when “Anna” gave birth to Faison’s (Anders Hove) baby – or so he thought but it was her identical twin, Alex – Valentin kept the tot from going to a loving adoptive family, and instead delivered him to Faison.
That will teach him not to return a crazy stalker’s feelings! (In this case, we mean Valentin, not Faison, but it’s OK if you’re confused. Anna attracts a lot of those.)
Anna used to be very terse with Valentin, and learning about his role in turning Peter (Wes Ramsey) evil didn’t help. But they’ve been downright connecting lately.
Valentin offered to be there for her, there was a bit of hand-holding. Sure, she’s engaged to Finn (Michael Easton) – hasn’t that been going on forever? But does that mean Valentin has no chance at all of finally capturing Anna’s heart?
Anna has been waiting so long to get married, we’re not sure it’s ever going to happen. And, after all this, we’re really not sure how long it’s going to last. And Valentin has been waiting for so long for Anna to realize what a nifty guy he is. Sure, he made do with Nina (Cynthia Watros) in the meantime. But she isn’t up to another go-around.
How would fans feel about The Powers That Be finally giving this odd couple a shot? After all, Anna is no saint herself. She was a double agent, a jewel thief, and a fence. She also wore a fake scar to make Robert (Tristan Rogers) feel guilty even though she said it was because she felt that way.
And Duke (Ian Buchanan), the love of her life, was a mobster who periodically forgot to go straight. Valentin would fit right in!
