It’s not a question of if Sonny will be forgiven for having Jax deported on General Hospital (GH).
Sonny (Maurice Benard) has been forgiven for feeding drugs to an underage girl he turned into a stripper, shooting his wife in the head while she was giving birth, shooting his son in the chest while he was trying to arrest him, and running a criminal empire out of a small town in upstate New York.
Of course Sonny will be forgiven for having Jax (Ingo Rademacher) deported. The only question is, should he be? Over 3,000 viewers weighed in.
You Always Hurt the Ones You Love
Despite their eerily similar taste in women, Sonny does not, in fact, love Jax. So hurting him, in this case, was done purely out of spite. Sonny is mad that Jax bought Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) kidney to save his dying daughter, Josslyn’s, life.
This prompted Nelle to come to Port Charles to seek revenge, which ended up with her convincing Sonny they’d slept together, which led to Carly (Laura Wright) leaving Sonny and actually sleeping with Jax.
So let’s not forget who the true victim is here, voted 36% of you. Sonny is hurting, and that gives him the right to lash out at anyone he likes in any manner he likes. And to expect to be forgiven for it, after the fact.
A Hypocritical Hypocrite Who Hypocrites
On the other hand, an almost equal number of the audience, 35%, think that Sonny is being a hypocrite. He has committed way, way more crimes than Jax, and for less noble reasons than saving his daughter.
Sonny deserves to be shunned for what he’s done. Or at least deported himself — back to Brooklyn.
Ask Facebook
Facebook has an It’s Complicated status update, and 28% of fans think Sonny should be its poster child. He is too complicated to slot into a good guy/bad guy dichotomy. And his behavior should be judged accordingly.
