Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the General Hospital week that was.
We’re so surprised that Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) actually alive…said no one. We’re so glad that GH is tackling another wanderer-with-amnesia storyline (because it worked out so well when Alan Quartermaine thought he was a beatnik named Simon)…said no one.
The only way this arc has legs is if it actually has long term repercussions on the character – much like Jason’s (Steve Burton) long ago brain trauma (which is the gift that keeps on giving).
Maybe Sonny could decide to retire from his life of gallant villainy. Perhaps Corinthos Coffee becomes a true legitimate business. And might it be possible that Sonny picks up a new lady whom he chooses to remain with rather than return to Carly? The possibilities are endless.
What isn’t possible, however, is the fact that NO ONE has recognized Sonny Corinthos nor the fact New Jersey police haven’t issued a missing person’s report that would fit Sonny to a tee. Seems like they’re just about as useful as the PCPD.
Thank goodness Sonny had on Mike’s watch and that his name is actually Michael. Coincidences are fun…until they’re not. Of course, Sonny would get dragged to the same bar that a gun-totting local decided to hold up. Looks like it’s time for the Dimpled Don to work his magic and save the day. Because that’s just what he does.
Though Cyrus (Jeff Kober) has decided to give him a run for his money in that department. If it hadn’t been for his intervention, a rival mob family might have successfully invaded the Corinthos territory with their naughty paraphernalia. Now, Cyrus thinks that his actions were enough to warrant Florence’s freedom, but that’s still going to be a bit of a problem.
First, Jason has no idea where Cyrus’s mom is actually being held. That’s all on Carly. Secondly, Jason isn’t a stupid man. He knows that as long as Florence is out of Cyrus’s hands, he has leverage. The minute that the old lady is returned, Cyrus will strike back. And Jason isn’t about to let that happen on his watch.
Speaking of unforeseen happenings under someone’s watch, Carly went and lost Avery. No, not to some ransom minded kidnapper. To the little girl’s own mother. Boy did that just make Carly seethe…and bring out her inner hypocrite.
Carly had the nerve to call Ava a “hideous woman” for taking custody of her child when Carly herself is keeping Nina (Cynthia Watros) from achieving closure where her missing daughter is concerned.
Sure, it won’t be easy to hear that she birthed Nelle (Chloe Lanier), a baby-snatching, throat-slashing psycho (Carly’s description, not ours). But at least Nina would have the answers she’s so desperately seeking. Carly really needs to look into a little proverb about people with stones who live in glass houses.
Anybody else starting to warm to the idea of a Sasha (Sofia Mattsson)/Brando (Johnny Wactor) pairing? We wouldn’t hate it. Nor do we hate the idea of Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) deciding that heart truly belongs to Chase (Josh Swickard)…despite her little liaison with Michael (Chad Duell).
Here’s hoping that Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) vindication is imminent and Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) downfall swift. And though it’s been nice to see Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) put their heads together and uncover the truth – their pairing is honestly everything we never thought we needed – wouldn’t the story have had more weight if Alexis had been the one to save herself?
