Sonny thought he could just walk away from the mob on General Hospital (GH) after spending nearly a year telling Julian it was impossible.
And, it was, seeing that Julian (William deVry) was forced back into a life of crime by his nutty sister (Olivia, not Ava) and was just sent to jail for 20 years (maybe).
But, that didn’t stop Sonny (Maurice Benard) from giving it the old college try this week, to little success.
In fact, it was so unsuccessful that Jason ended up shot and near death once again as he tried to shield Sam from a bullet.
Still, that doesn’t mean he’s giving up so soon. According to the September 11 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Sonny is one determined mobster who just wants to be an ex-mobster.
“Sonny has found after Jason’s shooting that extricating himself from the mob is not as simple as he thought,” Co-Head Writer Shelly Altman told Digest.
“But, with Carly by his side, they forge their partnership to move forward together.”
Of course, as Jason (Billy Miller) recovers from this mess, he’ll have his own concerns in life that do not involve Sonny–namely a person arriving in town with his old face.
“There will be surprising connections between this man with Jason’s face and the characters who would not have known him with that face,” Altman says.
Hmmm…we wonder what that could mean–and what it all could mean for the forever-GH mob scene.
