The General Hospital recap for Thursday, July 30, 2020 features a flashback to May of this year. In that episode, Wiley’s custody case began, Sonny continued to look to others for answers, and Laura offered Nikolas some advice on parenting.
Carly (Laura Wright) was the first witness called to testify in the custody hearing. Martin (Michael E. Knight) attempted to use her mental health struggles, particularly her confinement to TWO asylums, to paint her as an unhinged person.
However, Carly was able to turn the tables on the southern fried lawyer. She copped to shooting and nearly killing Tony Jones… the first offense that earned Carly her temporary confinement. But she was also able to point out that the stay in Ferncliff had been engineered by Nelle (Chloe Lanier) and her heinous gaslighting.
Next, Michael (Chad Duell) took to the stand and admitted that his and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) marriage was not based on romantic love. What it was based on, was friendship, trust, and a belief that Wiley and his well being should be put first before all. And just to clear up a point…it was NOT a marriage of convenience. Nothing is convenient about this situation.
Finally, Willow set in the hot seat. Martin attempted to paint her as an overzealous buttinsky but her glowing recommendation from her previous employer (the principal at Port Charles Elementary) and her complimentary performance review from GH put an end to that.
With Diane’s (Carolyn Hennesy) case rested, Martin called his first witness: Nelle Benson JEROME. It’s very important to remember that she is now a Jerome…for some reason. As if marrying into that family is a badge of honor or something.
With Sonny (Maurice Benard) still struggling over his decision on Mike’s (Max Gail) care, Jason (Steve Burton) offered his own advice. Were he in Mike’s position, he would not want to be hooked up to a machine and forced to live.
Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Laura (Genie Francis) argued over how to best handle Nikolas (Marcus Coloma). Lulu voted they voice their disapproval of him by avoiding the soiree he and Ava (Maura West) are hosting. Laura insisted on taking a more maternal approach.
When the man in question arrived for some advice, Laura offered the best she had…and it seemed to do the trick. Off that mother-son pow wow, Nick called Spencer and told him he finally had an answer to his ultimatum. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
