The General Hospital recap for Monday, June 22, 2020, features the first of a five-day, five-episode marathon of all things Sam and Jason. Today, we go back to the very first moment that these two star crossed lovers clapped eyes on each other.
Last week it was all about CarSon. Now, GH is dedicating its next theme week to the love story of Jason (Steve Burton) – Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) most loyal foot soldier – and Sam (Kelly Monaco), Sonny’s former lover, would-be baby’s mother, and major thorn in Carly’s (Laura Wright) side.
Sonny really hates Lorenzo Alcazar (Ted King). And the feeling is mutual. Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner) hates Sonny. So since the enemy of my enemy is my friend, Scotty and Lorenzo decided to join forces and do their utmost to bring Sonny down once and for all.
The men finally think that they have enough evidence to imprison Sonny. He did, after all, shoot Lorenzo point-blank, multiple times, refuse to surrender to the police, and then take Sam hostage and force her to serve as his getaway driver. The only problem is that they need Sam to testify that Sonny did indeed kidnap her.
Hoping that some time spent at the police station and the threat of being charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive will loosen Sam’s tongue, PCPD officers throw her into an interrogation room…one that’s also housing Jason (Steve Burton).
The two exchanged pleasantries and introduced themselves. Then Jason promised to secure Sam a lawyer and arrange for her bail if she agreed not to testify against Sonny. Jax (Ingo Rademacher) interrupted their little tete-a-tete and did his best to convince Sam to do the right thing. But she wouldn’t budge.
Meanwhile, over at GH, Ric (Ric Hearst) managed to elicit a confession from Sonny concerning him kidnapping Sam. A confession that came mere moments after Carly (then Tamara Braun) successfully convinced Lorenzo not to press attempted murder charges and confess to the conspiracy hatched between him and Scotty!
Across town, Jason – having been bailed out by Emily (Natalia Livingston) and Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) – put an end to his relationship with Courtney (Alicia Leigh Williams). She just couldn’t bring herself to live in his danger-filled world.
She could, however, provide him with details concerning Faith Roscoe’s (Cynthia Preston) plan to take over Sonny’s empire. A plan Jason scuttled with a bomb! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
