General Hospital Recap: Mob Wars, Deceit, And Danger

The General Hospital recap for March 16-20, 2020, features a whole host of characters letting their emotions eclipse their better judgment.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

Sometimes necessity dictates the swallowing of pride, the ignorance of principles and dismissal of all common sense – it’s a fact that many Port Charlesians are learning the hard way.

Despite her dedication to upholding truth and justice, Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) is now acquiescing to every whim and order issued by Cyrus (Jeff Kober) lest he harms her imprisoned son.

And a desperate Harmony (Inga Cadranel) was relaying the villain’s demands – and refusing offers of assistance – because she is too terrified of what Cyrus will do to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) if she refuses.

Brando (Johnny Wactor) wanted nothing to do with cousin Sonny (Maurice Benard) or his illegal dealings, but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity of a free repair shop to call his own and now found it paramount that he offers his services in addition to his thanks.

Lucy (Lynn Herring) is so gung ho about launching Deception that she made a business deal with the less than trustworthy Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Poor Maxie (Kristen Storms),  who is about to leap out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Marry Willow

Finally, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) has grown so obsessed with the notion that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) never obtain custody that she actually suggested that Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow should marry. And while Chase (Josh Swickard) and Michael dismissed the idea outright, Willow seemed to be giving it an awful lot of thought.

GH Musings

Portia: “…While Trina is the correct age to be your daughter…she’s not. Marcus was her father” But was he really Portia (Brook Kerr)?

Michael: “It’s too obvious, okay? Everybody knows that you and I are together and Chase and Willow are together.” Sasha: You wouldn’t be the first couple to marry platonically for the sake of a child.”

In fact, Holly Sutton and Robert Scorpio married in order to both give Holly’s baby (with a presumed dead Luke Spencer) a name and to keep her in the country – two of the biggest soap opera tropes. But like so many before them, Holly and Robert didn’t stay platonic friends for long so maybe Sasha (Sofia Mattson) shouldn’t push the issue.

Liesl: “As if I would hire incompetent hitmen! Please! If I want someone dead, they are dead, understand?!” Victor Cassadine would certainly agree with that assessment. However, Robin Scorpio might just voice a dissenting opinion.

Britt to Liesl: “I’ve been in hell the last five years. And yes, a lot it is my own making. But a lot of it is because of you. Because of the crimes you were guilty of, because of the things you pushed me to do.” Some of those “things” include conspiring with her to steal Lulu’s embryo and have it implanted in her womb, as well as encouraging her to go on the lame with Faison.

Speaking of Lulu (Emme Rylan) that catfight she and Brook Lynn indulged in – and that Valentin recorded – is really going to come back and bite her, isn’t it?

“Brook Lynn has to be the most incompetent secretary in the history of secretaries – Clint Buchanan.” Nice One Life to Live shoutout…but what in the world is Mr. B doing reading The Invader. What in the world would Viki Lord, his wife and the owner of The Banner (a top Invader competitor) say?

Franco: “There’s no hot water. There’s no electricity. The basement’s flooded with water because the pipes froze. And now the whole house has to be rewired.”

Hmmm…if only Franco (Roger Howarth) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) had exes with access to a literal castle and a burning desire to split the two up and push them towards other partners. Oh wait, they do! Let the games begin Ava (Maura West) and Nikolas (Marcus Coloma).

Scotty: “How much do you need?” Franco: “…like, a hundred thousand.” Scotty: “I hate to admit it. I haven’t got that kind of money.” No? Scotty, what happened to the $100 MILLION dollars that your late wife, Dominique Stanton, left you?

Do you agree with Ava’s assessment that Hayden (Rebecca Budig) has either fallen afoul of a dangerous character or fallen victim to an unfortunate accident? If so, which theory do you find more plausible?

How surprised – and elated – were you when Trina (Sydney Mikayla) and Cameron (William Lipton) wound up being the two to lock lips – especially when it seemed that he had been poised to finally express his feelings for Josslyn (Eden McCoy) to the genuine article?
