General Hospital Recap: Mike Gets Last Rites…But It’s Not Over Yet

The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, September 16, 2020, features Mike being absolved of his sins while his family discussed such weighty topics as the existence of an afterlife and faith.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

At Turning Woods, Carly (Laura Wright) and Jason (Steve Burton) struggled to give Sonny (Maurice Benard) the support he needed as well as time alone with Mike (Max Gail).

With Stella’s (Vernee Watson) help, Sonny made his father’s surroundings more comfortable. Then he offered what he thought the dying man needed more than anything – his forgiveness.

While reminiscing about seeing Mike seeking absolution from a local parish priest, Sonny was struck by another thought. What if Mike needed to feel that he had been forgiven by his God?

To that end, Sonny requested the services of the home’s Chaplin who performed the last rights on Mike while his extended family joined in prayer beside his bed. Afterward, Sonny still worried about Mike still lingering and wondered what else he was waiting for. Was there something else still troubling Mike and tethering him to the here and now?

Willow Honors Her Vows

Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) surprised Michael (Chad Duell) by arriving at Turning Woods and insisting on offering her assistance. When Michael attempted to dissuade her from sticking around – after all, they are married in name only – Willow insisted that when she married Michael she agreed to be there for him through thick and thin and she was honoring those vows.

Josslyn Asks The Big Questions

Both before and after Mike’s absolution, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) wondered what it was all about. Was there really an afterlife that “Grandpa” would now occupy? Did he, and anyone else, really think that a ceremony would usher him into that place?

There weren’t any easy answers. Willow proffered that her father’s comforting spirit had indeed visited her the day she gave birth to her baby. Stella and Brando (Johnny Wactor) both agreed that personal faith would be the deciding factor.

Whatever the reality, it’s clear that the Corinthos family will come out the other side of the loss stronger than before. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
