The General Hospital recap for Tuesday, July 7, 2020, features the second day of the second week of episodes dedicated to the relationship between Sonny and his children. In today’s show, Sonny got a lesson in honesty from Michael…and he didn’t like it one little bit.
With Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) freedom on the line, Michael (Chad Duell) decided to break his silence and confess to Claudia’s (Sarah Joy Brown) murder. While perched on the witness stand, he recounted how he had struck his step-mother with the ax handle in order to stop her absconding with Carly’s (Laura Wright) recently-delivered baby.
He also admitted that though he was sorry someone had died, he wasn’t apologetic for committing an act that saved his mother and baby sister. In response to the testimony, the judge had Michael arrested on charges of manslaughter and remanded to a cell at the PCPD – there would be no bail offered!
Everybody was sure that justice would prevail. Michael was a minor at the time of the “accident.” He has documented brain damage stemming from the bullet he took that was aimed at Sonny.
In fact, everyone from the prosecuting attorney to cop Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was sure that Michael would receive a suspended sentence and mandatory counseling. Spoiler alert: He didn’t. In point of fact, he was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 24 months.
Following the arrest of her son, Carly went on the attack. She blamed Sonny, Dante and even Lulu (Julie Marie Berman) for the predicament that Michael now found himself in.
Luckily Tracy (Jane Elliot) arrived and was able to dispense some home truths. “You are the one who chose to marry Sonny. You are the one who chose to allow him to adopt Michael. What the hell did you think? He going to grow up to be a choir boy?”
Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) made a beeline for their apartment and explained the turn of events to Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). The Assassin of Cyberspace realized right away that Jason planned to murder Dante in revenge and he strongly suggested that his benefactor think twice.
Violence begets violence and there has been enough of that in recent months to last a lifetime. Plus only Sonny is allowed to shoot his children. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
