General Hospital Recap: Kristina Called Sonny Out On Being Abusive

The General Hospital recap for Tuesday, June 30, 2020, features the second of a five-day, five-episode marathon dedicated to Sonny and his children. In today’s episode, Sonny proved his utter hypocrisy – though he later had a bit of an epiphany.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

If there is one thing that Sonny (Maurice Benard) is sure of it’s the fact that he is always in the right. In fact, he never makes mistakes. And anything that he does do that could even be considered incorrect is actually the fault of another person altogether.

Sure, he shot and nearly killed his own son. But that was Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) fault. How could Sonny have been expected to know he wasn’t merely exterminating a rat? If anything, Sonny was the victim. He was being lied to after all.

And Sonny is most certainly NOT an abusive man. Sure, he calls women “bitches” and “whores” but that’s not abuse. In Sonny’s world, the only type of abuse that exists is physical. And he doesn’t physically abuse the women he insults. So he’s good. (However, he did get violent with Brenda back in 1995 when she wore a wire. Let’s not forget that.)

But that isn’t what Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) thinks. She’s seen her father’s rages, heard him speak ill to his (now-deceased) wife Claudia (Sarah Joy Brown), and she’s seen how every woman in his life has covered for him. So, she asked out loud, is it any wonder she stayed with a verbally abusive partner whose tirades finally became physical?

Sonny, however, refused to be blamed. Refused to take responsibility – what else is new? But, upon further reflection, he began to think that perhaps the issue wasn’t as black and white as it seemed. So, who better than Carly (Laura Wright) to tell him whether or not he is actually an abusive partner?

Where Did Pop Hop?

Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) was frantic with worry over Luke (Anthony Geary) and Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) absence, but Ethan (Nathan Parsons) did his best to convince him something was wrong. Surely their father was out somewhere on a bender or living it up on his wife’s dime. But, alas, the duo were imprisoned by evil Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) – the exact scenario that Lucky most feared.

Revenge

Carly was out for revenge against goody two shoes Dante. How dare he send Michael to prison for his role in Claudia’s death? Doesn’t he understand that Corinthos men don’t pay for their crimes? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
