The General Hospital recap for July 6-10, 2020, features another look back at the relationships that exist between Sonny Corinthos and his large number of children… biological and adopted alike.
Last week, it was all about Sonny (Maurice Benard) and his brood. This week was more of the same, though the emphasis was squarely placed on Michael (Chad Duell) – the child Sonny raised as his own though he was biologically AJ Quartermaine’s (Sean Kanan) son – and Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth), the daughter he shares with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
If there’s one certainty in GH’s fictional universe, it’s that it isn’t easy being Sonny’s kid. Terrible things tend to happen to those closest to him…like being shot in the noggin by a sniper hired to forever silence Port Charles’s answer to Al Capone.
Once he was fully recovered from his traumatic brain injury (and suddenly rocking a head full of blonde hair in place of his formerly red locks) Michael’s life continued to go from bad to worse.
First, he murdered his step-mother Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Joy Brown) – who knew that the handle of an ax was as deadly as the blade itself? – saving his mother and newborn sister in the process.
And then, rather than receive thanks and a pat on the back for his actions, Michael was sentenced to five years in prison with the possibility of parole in 24 months.
While Michael’s journey was, without question, a difficult one, Kristina’s (Lexi Ainsworth) wasn’t a walk in the park either. She didn’t learn Sonny was her papa until slightly later in life, but he defiantly made up for lost time.
First, he was there to comfort her in the wake of a bus crash that claimed the life of her good friend Allie. Then he was on hand to assure her that her status as a gay woman was by no means an impediment to his loving her. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
