The General Hospital recap for June 22-26, 2020 features a look back at the love story of Sam and Jason, a couple that has always navigated the milestones of courtships on their own terms.
General Hospital Recap Highlights
Last week, it was all about the Dimpled Don and his enabler. For the past five days, the spotlight has shifted over to hitman/enforcer Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall, one of Sonny’s all-time favorite exes. From the couples first meeting, to a rooftop proposal and an oh-so-perfect wedding, viewers were able to relive it all.
Kismet
Where else are two career criminals going to meet but inside an interrogation room? And who else but Sonny Corinthos would be the instigator for such an eventuality? It wasn’t exactly love at first sight. But the two quickly realized that they were both enamored of Sonny so that right there was the perfect basis for a future relationship.
The Cruel Hand of Fate
And had Jason and Sam had their way, that future would have included a baby. Sure, it would have been Sonny’s natural child, but Jason was totally used to raising other men’s children (we’re looking at you Michael!) so that little fact didn’t bother them.
Unfortunately, fate intervened and robbed JaSam of the chance for parenthood. But at least some good did result from the tragedy. Baby Lila’s umbilical cord stem cells were able to help cure Kristina’s (Lexi Ainsworth) leukemia.
Beach Blanket Violence
If there was one thing that fans learned during their viewing of these episodes, it’s that Sam and Jason are never able to enjoy the little pleasures in life. Like vacations, for instance. The couple wasn’t allowed to merely go to Hawaii and relax in the surf and sand.
Oh no. Instead, they were forced to contend with the interference of mobsters like Manny Ruiz (Robert LaSardo) who just absolutely refused to let Jason and Sam have nice things.
They Did It Their Way
Sam and Jason are also a couple who buck tradition. Marriage proposals with an actual engagement ring? We think not. Especially when a chrome nut will serve the exact same purpose.
A traditional white wedding replete with a bride in a voluminous gown and a groom in a tux and tails? Why bother when the proprietors of a Chinese restaurant will marry you for free out on the establishment’s patio? Say what you will about these two, but at least they’re never boring!
