The General Hospital recap for Friday, July 31, 2020 features a final flashback to May of this year. In that episode, more witnesses took the stand in Wiley’s custody hearing, Sam let Julian know exactly what she thought of him, Robert turned to Ned for assistance and wound up offering his own to Olivia, and Sasha continued down a slippery slope.
Nelle (Chloe Lanier) was called to testify in her own defense and she did an excellent job of lying through her teeth. She laid all the blame that she could on Brad (Parry Shen), she insisted that she had been the wronged party in her relationship with Michael (Chad Duell), and she claimed that she loved “Jules” (William de Vry) with every fiber of her being.
On cross-examination, Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) managed to sneak in Nelle’s assault on Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and her near-kidnapping of Wiley – score one for the Corinthos party we think.
Julian was the next party to take the stand. He played up the loving grandfather card, the honest businessman card, and he insisted that he and Nelle had married to provide a safe and loving environment for Wiley.
Diane delighted in raking up Julian’s plethora of dirty dealings, including his assault on Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) – but Julian blamed most of his transgressions on his sister, Olivia (Tonja Walker). After his testimony, Julian received a sharp rebuke and a slap across the face, from Sam (Kelly Monaco).
Nelle was delighted to see Nina (Cynthia Watros) arrive and take the stand… so convinced was she that Nina would help clinch her bid for sole custody. But Nina remained unsure of exactly what she would say. Should she give Nelle the benefit of the doubt or put Wiley’s well being above all?
Off a conversation with Laura (Genie Francis) about the possibility of Holly’s (Emma Samms) survival, Robert (Tristan Rogers) made his way to Monica’s (Leslie Charleson) with the hope that Ned (Wally Kurth) could put him back in touch with Luke (Anthony Geary).
When he arrived, Robert realized that he had walked into a marital maelstrom. Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) was down and out over her relationship with a psychic coming to light and Ned’s subsequent reaction to it. Ever the gentleman, Robert offered some words of encouragement and a shoulder to cry on…and that didn’t sit well with an observant Ned.
Despite her better judgment, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) accepted yet another vial of drugs from Deception’s friendly neighborhood dealer. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
