On General Hospital, Sasha lied about her past by claiming to be Nina’s long-lost daughter and sabotaged her present to push Michael towards Willow. Now over 1,000 fans have voted on what the future should bring for this badly conceived character:
General Hospital Polling: Just Say No
For 60% of you, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) falling apart and turning to drugs is a boring cliche. You hope she’ll realize that quickly and, being an original, get over the whole thing.
Seriously, where is the entertainment value in watching a character we’re not particularly invested in doing things we’re not particularly interested in? If GH wants us to care about Sasha they need to give us a reason to root for her, not a reason to roll our eyes and switch the channel.
End Of the Road
And then there’s the 25% of General Hospital fans who hope that Sasha overdoses. That way, she can be a cautionary tale – don’t do drugs, kids, K? And Chase (Josh Swickard) can feel all guilty about it. Chase is actually a character who viewers have some investment in. We do root for him. So if Sasha’s pill-popping is going to have a worthwhile pay-off, let’s make it a meaty story for Chase. We do promise her a lovely funeral, though.

A last-place 14% hope to see Sasha become a messy addict, who is then helped by one of Port Charles’ many other addicts. There’s Finn (Michael Easton), to start. Monica (Leslie Charleson) can recall Alan’s (Stuart Damon) descent. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) can prattle about her on-again/off-again alcoholism.
Oh, and, hey, Sonny (Maurice Benard) can wax nostalgic for the days when he was drugging underage girls – including Scott’s (Kin Shriner) daughter – to strip at his club. But then he will show he has changed, announce that it’s a BAD thing to do, and Sasha will straighten right up again.
