Tyler Christopher is out as Nikolas on General Hospital — leaving his temporary replacement, Nick Stabile, as a viable option to assume the role.
Since news broke that Christopher and GH couldn’t come to terms to extend his run as Nikolas, fans have been in a frenzy. The Cassadine prince has been an integral part of the soap for years, and it’s hard to imagine the show without him. Soap Hub asked how viewers would feel about Stabile taking over the role permanently, and the results were rather surprising.
Bring Back Nick’s Nik
Missing the soap’s resident prince, 63% of fans would welcome Stabile back as Nik. While you adored Christopher in the role and hated to see him go, you feel a huge void with Nikolas’s absence, not to mention the absence of his son Spencer. For that reason, you’re willing to accept a recast. After all, Stabile had fantastic chemistry with Maura West’s Ava, and you want to see where that story developed.
No Tyler, No Nik
There’s only one Nikolas for 29% of you and that’s Christopher. No other actor can or should fill his shoes. Remember, he just won the 2016 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series. You’re willing to wait things out and hope the actor and the soap eventually come to terms. Until then, you’re fine with Nikolas remaining dead.
In a Quandary
The final 8% of fans are in a casting quandary. You love Nikolas and Christopher’s Nikolas in particular, but you miss the character as much as his mother, Laura (Genie Francis) and the rest of his family. Some days, you wish Stabile would take over the part; other days, you don’t.
