General Hospital News: The Soap Is Dedicated To Safety On The Set

General Hospital returned to production last week after shutting down on March 13 as the world shut down with it. The soap managed to make episodes last until May 21 by editing flashbacks into already-produced shows and a week from today, GH will once again be all-new, the way a soap should be. (Did we ever imagine soap operas would have a re-run season?)

General Hospital Is Ready To Return

With the coronavirus pandemic still raging throughout the United States and cases going up in Los Angeles, GH is taking things seriously to ensure safety on the set, but that doesn’t mean cast and crew are not excited to be back.

“I am incredibly grateful to be back to set. I have missed my team and we have missed our fans,” Executive Producer Frank Valentini said.

“In returning to work, it was important to take every precaution in order to create a safe and smooth transition back to production. In addition to regular testing and distancing measures — we have hired a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to be on set to supervise all health and safety protocols and answer any questions as they arise. It’s important that every member of the cast and crew feel safe and confident.”

GH is going to pick up right where it left off, which means in the courtroom where Nina may or may not testify on Nelle’s behalf and Carly may or may not go ballistic. Either way, actress Laura Wright is sure happy to resume work in Carly’s World.

“I’m thrilled to be back. This is my family, this is my home – I’ve been on the show for 15 years so it was hard to be away,” Wright said. “Frank and ABC have been taking the utmost care in making sure we have had a safe environment to return to.

“We are all being regularly tested and are continuing to do our part on and off-set — being mindful to practice proper distancing and most importantly wear our masks when we’re not filming. It’s good to be back.” General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
