There are unconfirmed reports that General Hospital is getting back to work this week, but one of the show’s stars, Ingo Rademacher, is already picking up shifts in his other role — as a lifeguard for Los Angeles County.
“It has certainly been a strange year but the beaches are finally open again and I’m starting to pick up some shifts,” Rademacher, who plays GH’s Jax, posted on Instagram, “watching the water and doing my best to keep our beach-goers safe. The ocean is a beautiful place but it can take your life in the blink of an eye. If you’re unsure about conditions please come and ask a Lifeguard and always swim in front of an open tower. When in doubt, don’t go out.
“It is an absolute honor to represent the @lacolifeguards and I wear these red trunks with pride,” the soap hopper adds. “Every year the LA county fire dept. Lifeguard division makes an estimated 12,000 ocean rescues and attend to more than 15,000 medical emergencies. If you have ever been rescued please share your story.
“I also want to thank all of my Academy instructors who ran an incredibly informative and professional class in 2019,” Rademacher shares. “This is my second year. Honored to be a part of the team @lacolifeguards @lacountyfd #lifeguard #oceanrescue #beach #manhattanbeach.”
Rademacher, as GH fans recall, came onto the scene in 1996. He’s shared screentime with many of Port Charles’ leading ladies including Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda), Megan Ward (ex-Kate), and Laura Wright (Carly). General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
