Brad and Lucas fell in love, got married, and then faded into the woodwork on General Hospital.
Lucas (Ryan Carnes) finally surfaced in January, which was a welcome sighting. What was even better was Lucas telling Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) and Carly (Laura Wright) that he and Brad (Parry Shen) are planning to adopt a baby.
Hopefully, it means more screen time – and a storyline — for the forgotten duo. The two actors deserve it, and so do viewers.
Child Search
An adoption story could be fraught with all kinds of emotions and plot twists, and who better to be at the center of it than Lucas and Brad? The couple go through the realistic ups and downs of the long difficult process.
At first, they’d be filled with excitement and anticipation. Then, as their hopes are dashed by legal snafus or birth parents who change their minds about giving up their babies, they’d endure disappointment and heartache. Viewers could totally feel their pain and relate to their agony.
Hospital Scene
Just having Lucas and Brad on screen adds to the show’s fabric; especially when they’re featured at General Hospital. Lucas is a doctor, who should be seen more and collaborating on cases with Griffin (Matt Cohen), Finn (Michael Easton), or Monica (Leslie Charleson).
Meanwhile, Brad’s the resident lab tech, whose services should come into play on a daily basis. Plus, there’s his friendship with Felix. Lucas and Brad have been sadly and conspicuously missing from too many scenes around the fifth floor nurses station.
Those Spencer-Jones-Jerome Ties
Lucas has so much family in Port Charles. Aside from mama Bobbie and big sis Carly, there’s his sister, Sam (Kelly Monaco), cousins Lulu (Emme Rylan), and Maxie (Kirsten Storms), nephews and nieces.
The guy needs to be involved in their lives. And Lucas’ strained relationship with his estranged biological father, Julian, is one of the most interesting ones on the show. It needs to be worked on and explored–especially now that Julian appears to be on the straight and narrow. Who knows? Maybe the two men could finally make amends.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
