The General Hospital recap for December 23-27 features a shocking return and some holiday wishes come true.
To everyone’s great surprise — and consternation — Tracy (Jane Elliot) returned home for Christmas. And in keeping with her resistant nature, the first thing she did upon arriving was to complain about the redecoration that Monica (Leslie Charleson) approved.
After taking the time to process the elder (and wayward) Quartermaine’s visit, the family’s younger generation decided that she was back for one of two reasons; she made a mess of things in Amsterdam or she’s back to cause a plethora of trouble.
In quick succession, both Michael (Chad Duell) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) decided on the latter. Which doesn’t bode well for Michael seeing as how Tracy has a history of staging hostile takeovers of ELQ. However, to Tracy’s great chagrin, the coups do usually blow up in her face so maybe Michael is in with a chance after all.
This year, General Hospital pulled off to Christmas miracles. First, miserly Finn (Michael Easton) got his holiday spirit back thanks to a storytime-fueled fantasy sequence in which he underwent the same personality softening journey experienced by Ebenezer Scrooge.
Secondly, the wishes (and prayers) of Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) friends and family were answered when she was granted early parole. She even managed to make it home in time to hang her stocking on the mantle right beside Danny and Scout’s.
“Monica, what possessed you to obliterate years of memories?” That’ a very good question Tracy. However, you really should direct it to the shows Executive Producer and set designer.
And while you’re up there waiting on a satisfactory answer can you also query as to why they added so much marble? The house now looks incredibly cold and more mausoleum like than the comfortable family dwelling it once was.
Speaking of Tracy and her return, as fabulous as it was, did you miss the inclusion of a dig directed at Monica’s tresses — something that had been a staple of every one of Tracy’s homecomings since 1989? A sampling of the best include, “Monica…still blond?!” and “Sweetheart, you really ought to think about updating the hairdo.”
So, holiday-loving, Queen of Décor Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) has bogarted Thanksgiving, Easter, Fourth of July, and Arbor Day at Monica’s huh? How in the world did she let Valentine’s and Saint Patrick’s Day slip through her fingers?
How pissed is little Violet going to be when she learns she wasn’t gifted a magical candy cane that, when licked, would grant her wish of getting Hayden back home for Christmas?
What do we really think it was that Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dev (Aston Arbab) saw up in the night sky on Christmas Eve? Weather balloon, airplane, an experimental government craft? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtime
