The General Hospital recap for Monday, December 23, 2019, features a grouchy Finn getting a reminder of what Christmas is all about thanks to a true literary classic.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

Finn’s (Michael Easton) lack of Christmas cheer began to grate on Anna’s (Finola Hughes) nerves. All she wanted to do was celebrate the festive season with friends and family but her (less than) better half began to exhibit some rather Scrooge-like behavior and he very nearly ruined Violet’s holiday by bad-mouthing Santa Claus.

Suddenly, in a case of divine intervention, Curtis (Donnell Turner) arrived at the hospital and warned the merrymakers that weather conditions have left the roads unusable.

Thinking fast, Monica (Leslie Charleson) demanded another festive tome and set the children down for a retelling of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. Having recognized the traits he shares with the novel’s main character, Finn imagined himself enacting the Ebenezer role.

After blithely dismissing his nephew and being an all-around to poor Bob Cratchit, Finn’s Scrooge was warned by Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) rendition of Marley to expect a visitation from three spirits.

In quick succession, Scrooge was visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past (Eden McCoy), the Ghost of Christmas Present (Kathleen Gati) and the Ghost of Christmases Yet to Come (Maura West).

The latter two proved to be the most effective at thawing Scrooge’s ice-cold heart. The Ghost of Christmas Present warned that young Tiny Tim would be dead by the next year while the Ghost of Christmases Yet to Come literally buried the old miser in his future grave.

In the fantasy world, Scrooge learns the error of his ways and becomes the jolliest of the town’s residents. Back in the real world of Port Charles, Finn regained his Christmas spirit and insisted that he, Anna and Violet celebrate in grand style.

Even old curmudgeon Tracy Quartermaine found some holiday cheer, which she decided to spread by lending a helping hand to the party’s clean up committee. To quote Violet quoting Dickens, “God bless us, everyone.” General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
