How General Hospital Fans Really Felt About Oscar’s Farewell Episode

On Wednesday, May 1, General Hospital dedicated an entire episode to a character who had barely been on the canvas for a couple of years, and who only recently was revealed to be a member of a core family.

Of course, his girlfriend, Joss (Eden McCoy) is Carly’s (Laura Wright) daughter and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) stepdaughter, which does make Oscar (Garren Stitt) royalty by association.

Still, was the entire thing a little weird to you? Or, despite the setup, did it move you to tears as stories like these are supposed to do. What almost 5,000 viewers had to say:

Sweet Dreams
It was really touching, 84% of the audience insists. A teenage boy dying in the prime of his life is unbearably sad, and it’s sweet that Oscar got a chance to see how life would unfold for the people he loves.

Every life is valuable, no matter how long, and Oscar made a big impression with his. His mom and dad will never forget him, neither will Joss, or Cam (William Lipton). Oscar had a lot of people who loved him, and it’s important he got to see that before he died.

Plus, having his great-grandparents, Edward and Lila Quartermaine, come along to help facilitate his journey was an extra-special treat for old and new fans.

Big Man
Yeah, it was weird, 16% concur. Not just the last minute fake-out that made it seem like Oscar had recovered, but the dedication of an entire episode to a newbie, as if he were, well, Edward or Lila Quartermaine.

Sure, Oscar dying it sad, but not only is he a newbie, so is his mom, Kim (Tamra Braun). Even dad Drew (Billy Miller) was Jason for a good chunk of his time in Port Charles.

He just wasn’t important enough to get this kind of treatment. It felt forced like the show was just shoving in familiar faces like Monica (Leslie Charleson) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) so fans would know what show they’re watching!
