General Hospital C&G News
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of November 16, 2020
After weeks of heavy rumors, it appears William deVry has taped his final scenes as Julian Jerome. The actor took to Instagram to share a photo of himself exiting the show’s studio for the last time on November 12, along with a goodbye message to executive producer Frank Valentini, Nancy Lee Grahn, who played his on-again/off-again love interest Alexis, and others, thanking everyone for all the love the last seven years.
Inga Cadranel, who last aired as Willow’s (Katelyn McCullen) mother, Harmony in August, won’t be reprising the role. The actress is currently filming another project in Toronto, which has impeded scheduling a GH return. Cadranel debuted as Harmony in February 2019. There’s been no word from the show about a recast.
Finola Hughes wrapped up her portrayal of Anna’s evil twin sister, Alex Marick. The character tossed herself off the deck of The Haunted Star after being shot by Anna on Monday, November 9.
Meanwhile, Theo and Erik Olson, who have been missing in action as Michael’s (Chad Duel) son, Wiley Corinthos, are heading back to the show’s ABC studio complex to resume taping… hopefully. The tykes haven’t been on set since March. If all goes according to plan — the boys had to take a COVID test — the twins could be back on air in a few weeks.
General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running sudser is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running sudser, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) gripping romance and wedding, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH knows how to please their viewers.
Bringing the Drama
More than five decades of gripping drama has kept the daytime sudser on the air as other soap operas were axed. It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). GH airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
