Heather Mazur has been portraying Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby. The duplicitous character is an associate of Port Charles mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and co-conspirator of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). The actress previously played Brenda Brecheen on The Young and the Restless back in 2019, and has appeared on the primetime series Good Trouble and Tacoma FD.
The child recasts continue at GH. Scarlett Fernandez has exited as Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) daughter, Charlotte Cassadine; a part she’d played since 2016. Taking over the role is daytime newcomer Amelie McClain. The actress’ credits include the 2020 horror film Transference.
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) many decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please its viewers.
It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
