Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)?
General Hospital C&G News
Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not too far off future? Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts?
Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of July 26, 2021
Lead actress Kirsten Storms has exited the Port Charles canvas as Maxie Jones, but don’t worry, the move is only temporary. The storyline twist was dictated by the actress’s recent brain surgery, which she underwent in June. Expect Maxie to remain out of town, while Storms recovers and recuperates at home.
That was David Leeshock playing David Hopkins, the helicopter pilot who Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) questioned about Peter August (Wes Ramsey) in a New York City bar. The actor’s two-day stint wrapped up last week.

General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.
Current Soap Operas
It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
