Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not too far off future?

General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of August 23, 2021
After recovering from brain surgery that she underwent in June, Kirsten Storms returns on-air as Maxie Jones, this week. She’ll share scenes with James Patrick Stuart’s Valentin and Laura Wright’s Carly.

Avery Kristen Pohl has joined the cast as Esme, the mysterious nurse lurking around General Hospital — and Spencer’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) duplicitous girlfriend. Pohl’s credits include guest spots on the TV series Never Have I Ever and Dirty John. She also appeared in the movie Sunset on the River Styx.

Josh Murray is playing Russell the guard. The character has been keeping an eye on the abducted Drew (Cameron Mathison).

Genie Francis is heading off on an extended summer vacation. As a result, Laura Collins will be off the canvas until the fall.

Rif Hutton has wrapped up his run as Lenny Caulfield. His character succumbed to cancer.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.

Current Soap Operas

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
