General Hospital C&G News
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of August 2, 2021
Good news for Maxie Jones fans, but even better news for Kirsten Storms. After undergoing brain surgery in June and being temporarily written off the soap — she last aired on July 19, the actress has recovered and is back on set filming scenes. Storms shared an Instagram Stories post of herself back at work at the show’s ABC complex on July 30. Stay tuned for her return airdate.
After a long absence, Inga Cadranel returns as Harmony Miller, Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) mother on Monday, August 2. Last fall, the actress took to Twitter to announce that she would be unable to reprise the role when GH went back into production following the COVID-19 shutdown. At the time, she was filming another project in Toronto and, with quarantine timing, it wouldn’t work out. Cadranel first debuted in the role in February of 2019.
General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.
Current Soap Operas
It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
