Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts?
Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of August 6, 2018
A trio of leading ladies are returning. After a long, extended stay in France, Laura Spencer Collins is finally heading home to Port Charles.
Genie Francis, who has been off the show since January, will begin taping new episodes in September.
The show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, confirmed the news in a Twitter post, noting that he was “really excited” to have the actress “re-joining the cast. We have an amazing story for her.”
Finola Hughes has wrapped up her summer vacation, and is set to resurface as Anna Devane this week. The character went missing in July, while en route to the airport to visit her daughter Robin (Kimberly McCullough).
Leslie Charleson is also back on screen, this week, as Monica Quartermaine. The actress, who had been recuperating from and injury, was temporarily replaced by Patty McCormack.
Meanwhile, Donna Mills is slated to make a brief return as Madeline Reeves, Nina’s (Michelle Stafford) murderous mom. Mills made her last appearance in September 2015 when Madeline was sent to prison. She’ll start airing this month.
Meanwhile, Chloe Lanier heads off the canvas after a two-year run as the villainous Nelle Benson. She joined the cast back in 2016.
