General Hospital C&G News

Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of May 31, 2021
After being killed off as Franco Baldwin in March, Roger Howarth is back on the Port Charles scene in a brand new role. Howarth is now playing Austin, a doctor. The character first appeared when he came to the aid of a pregnant Maxie (Kirsten Storms), last week.

Austin marks the third character Howard has played on General Hospital. In addition to Franco, he also played Todd Manning on the soap; a role he originally created on One Life to Live.

Randall J. Bacon is playing Trent. The character is the latest bodyguard/henchman in the Corinthos crime family fold.

That was Tatum Shank portraying Officer Ralph Finchley, the Nixon Falls cop who questioned “Mike” (Maurice Benard) about the break at Elijah’s (Dan White) office.

Please note that air dates may be subject to change.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.

Bringing the Drama

More than five decades of gripping drama as well as love in the afternoon have kept this ABC daytime soap on the air and winning Daytime Emmys. It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DAYS), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
