Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not too far off future?

General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of July 19, 2021
Soap vet Cameron Mathison, remembered as Ryan Lavery on All My Children, is on-set in scenes as an undisclosed character. Although some have speculated that he’ll be playing the back-from-the-dead Drew Cane, the soap has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor.

Roger Howarth’s new character, his third on the soap, has finally been revealed. He’s playing Austin Gatlin-Holt, the son of Jimmy Lee Holt and Charity Gatlin.

That was Albert Malafronte portraying Dr. Ford. The Nixon Falls medico delivered bad news to Phyllis Caufield (Joyce Guy) and Lenny Caufield (Rif Hutton), regarding Lenny’s heart condition. Please note that air dates may be subject to change.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.

Current Soap Operas

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
