Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not too far off future?

General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The Week of September 27, 2021
Bada-bing bada-boom! Two of Port Charles’ five family leaders met their demise when their car bomb plot to kill Carly (Laura Wright) and Jason (Steve Burton) boomeranged back on them. Bart Tangredi wrapped up his run as Mr. Buscema, and Glenn Taranto as Vincent Novak when their characters were pronounced dead, last week. Tangredi debuted as Mr. Buscema in 2015, while Taranto first surfaced as Vincent Novak in May.

Meanwhile, the missing Dr. Liesl Obrecht, who’s been abducted by Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughessy), resurfaces, this week. Look for Kathleen Gati’s character to pop up back onscreen on Monday, September 27.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) many decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please its viewers.

Current Soap Operas

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
