Chapel Hill: Should Franco and Liz Have a Real Wedding On General Hospital?

Once upon a time, General Hospital broadcast the most watched soap opera wedding – and episode — of all time. Twenty million Americans tuned in to see the former mobster and rapist marry his victim. (She, by the way, was a killer, too).

In 2019, however, the reformed serial killer and rapist (it was a tumor, a tumor!) was forced to exchange vows with the love of his life from behind the bars of a jail cell, where he was serving time for yet another series of killings — this time, ones he didn’t commit.

How is that fair?

Should Franco (Roger Howarth) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) get the splashy wedding re-do treatment when he’s released – and all of Port Charles is forced to come on bended knee and apologize for ever thinking he might be capable of such things (sans tumor)?

Going To the Chapel and We’re Gonna Get….
Absolutely, yes, 93% of you are lining up to buy something to wear for the big occasion. That jailhouse thing didn’t even count. Sure, Drew (Billy Miller) was there – he performed the ceremony! – but nobody from Elizabeth’s family could make it.

Sure, her parents haven’t managed to show up for any meaningful events in Liz’s life, but what about her sons? Jake and Aiden adore Franco. And Cam… is a teenager. They deserve to be there. And Liz and Franco deserve a big day worthy of their epic love story.

Over and Done
It’s bad enough Liz, a rape victim, is in love with the guy who made Sam (Kelly Monaco) think he’d violated her and fathered Danny, a tiny 7% points out.

Don’t make us celebrate this relationship like they’re any other star-crossed couple. Let Franco recover from Ryan’s (Jon Lindstrom) stabbing, and they can move to the back-burner, like all other married couples.
