With Robin Mattson’s Heather, a long-lost sister story for Liz, and now a General Hospital casting call looking for a major player, the soap world is abuzz that Jeff Webber may soon return to Port Charles.
GH put out a casting call for a “major recurring role” with a character description that sounds suspiciously like Jeff Webber, a man whose name has come up in quite a few Port Charles conversations of late.
According to Soap Opera Digest, GH wants to cast an actor in his late 50s to early 60s, described as “Caucasian, handsome, dynamic, [and] charismatic.”
That certainly sounds like Jeff to us. The age range seems right and the character has a lot of explaining to do now that we know he’s Hayden’s (Rebecca Budig) biological father.
Fans recently learned Jeff had an affair with Hayden’s mom Naomi (Robin Riker) while he was with Elizabeth’s mother. Heather, mother to his son, Steven Lars, found out about it. Naomi has been paying Heather hush money ever since, but now her funds have run dry. Heather relayed the story to her other son, Franco, last week and now it may be up to him to reveal the truth and save Liz’s life.
Longtime GH fans last saw Jeff in 1981, although his daughter, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), has been a part of the canvas for two decades. In all that time, Liz has never had scenes with either of her parents, which has always seemed odd. It’s as if they fell off the face of the earth.
[relbar link=”http://soaphub.wpengine.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-hayden-looking-diamonds/” text=”Will Hayden Get What She’s Been Thinking?”]Jeff was originally played by Richard Dean Anderson, who became a household name playing the title character on the hit primetime series, MacGyver. If the show does want to cast Jeff, we wonder if Anderson wasn’t available because it would sure be interesting to watch him share scenes with Robin Mattson as crazy Heather once again.
