Five Fast Facts About General Hospital’s Elizabeth Webber

Elizabeth Webber arrived in Port Charles in 1997, and it’s safe to say that General Hospital has never been the same.

She’s Port Charles royalty; the granddaughter of Steve (John Beradino) and Audrey (Rachel Aames) Hardy. She even went into the family business working at General Hospital.

While it’s hard to imagine Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) not being a nurse today, her rebellious teen beginnings sure didn’t show that potential. Here are five facts you may not know about her.

1. Mean Girl
When Liz arrived in Port Charles, she would talk smack and smoke like a chimney, trying to show how “cool” she was compared to bookworm sister Sarah.

Except it was Sarah who all the boys (well, Lucky and Nikolas) liked. She did things to try to discredit Sarah in their eyes, but instead, Liz was seen as a little brat to be avoided. That did eventually change.

2. Crime Victim
And it changed when Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) found Liz battered and bruised after she was raped in the park.

Little did either know that Lucky’s mom, Laura (Genie Francis), had been raped once too—— by Lucky’s hero and father Luke (Anthony Geary). Laura was a rock for Liz and that close friendship continues to this day.

3. Artistic Freedom
When Liz was a teen, she discovered her love for painting… and was encouraged to pursue that by Lucky. He even suggested she attend art school in New York… and he’d go with her.

They married themselves in a church on Valentine’s Day… but tragedy struck soon after when Lucky was believed to have perished in a fire, gutting Liz.

4. To The Rescue
Still grieving Lucky, Liz went to Jake’s Bar and ended up in trouble with a male patron. Jason (Steve Burton) came to her rescue and the two developed a very deep friendship.

When Jason was shot, Liz took him to her art studio and hid him as she tended to his injuries. Unfortunately, Liz became a target and narrowly escaped a bomb blast. Jason left town to keep her safe.

5. Death Faker
When Lucky returned from the dead (a prisoner of Helena’s), the two tried to reconcile. She realized he was under a spell by Helena. The Cassadine matriarch wanted to do away with Liz. Thanks to Sonny, Liz faked her death and then relocated out of town until it was safe for her to return.
