Five Fast Facts About General Hospital’s Roger Howarth

After working on soap operas for nearly 30 years, Roger Howarth is certainly a fan favorite. But the beloved actor is notoriously press-shy, so many viewers may not be aware of some of the aspects of Howarth’s life. Below, readers will find five facts about this truly fascinating actor on General Hospital.

The Great White Way

Theater has been Howarth’s first love ever since he made his stage debut at the age of seven in the play The Grand Duke. Howarth studied at the famed Eugene O’Neill Theatre and appeared on Broadway in the 1999 production of The Lion in Winter.

He’s Got “It”

Howarth’s first television gig was as an understudy on As the World Turns, and he had a small role on Guiding Light as Jory Andros (future leading lady Kassie DePaiva was also at GL at the same time). Later, Howarth won a nationwide talent search held by ABC Daytime and landed the role of Kent Winslow on Loving.

Primetime Credits

Although he is best known for his work in the daytime field, Howarth is certainly no stranger to primetime shows. He had a recurring role on Dawson’s Creek and has guest-starred on other series, including The Flash, Prey, and Diagnosis: Murder.

In Good Company

Howarth is based in New York, so he has to fly to Los Angeles every week to film General Hospital. When he was initially hired to play Todd on the series, Howarth lived in a camper situated on a beach. The spot was initially the home of another camper owned by actor Matthew McConaughey.

One Woman Man

Despite being one-half of numerous popular couples (Todd and Blair, Todd and Tea, Paul, and Meg, etc.), Howarth has been a one-woman man since meeting actress Cari Stahler.

He rented an apartment above the café where Stahler worked between acting gigs, and the two had their first date on Coney Island.
