General Hospital may have switched out its core families over a 50+ year run, but the ties that bind were always at the center of the drama. Which family are fans’ favorite of all time? What almost 2,000 voters told us:
General Hospital Polling: The Evil Empire
Does anything scream family more than the kind that can be read two ways? There’s family, and there’s… family. You know, the Costa Nostra kind. Sonny (Maurice Benard) heads a family of wives, ex-wives, ex-lovers, and a wide assortment of children, including a few stolen ones. What’s more warm and cozy than that, 44% of you wonder.
Rick and Rowdy
A slightly smaller 30% of the audience went with the Quartermaines. They have criminals, too! They’re just not as proud of it. Their evil is more of the corporate variety, rather than the bullet to the back of the head. Oh, and they can never have a decent Thanksgiving dinner. Tradition – tradition!

Remember Them?
Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) may be the best-known soap couple of all time, but their family has been decimated since peak Spencers in the early 1980s. We hardly ever see Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) and Lucas anymore – and Carly (Laura Wright) is definitely all Corinthos. Luke is gone, Lucky is gone, Lulu is gone, and Laura isn’t a Spencer anymore, 18% sigh.
Wizard of Webber Place
The Webbers also used to be a big deal in the 1980s, 5% remind. Liz (Rebecca Herbst) is the only representative standing, as well as, technically, we guess, her sons. But it’s amazing anyone even still remembers they used to be a much bigger presence in Port Charles.
Big Bad
For a while there, the Cassadines were super scary, according to a last-place 3%. But Helena (Constance Towers) is dead, as are her evil sons. And Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) is kind of a weenie and not even a real Cassadine. Oh, and Nikolas is there, too. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
