Wally Kurth Exclusive Interview

What’s the last gift that you bought for yourself?
Some Beats headphones. Finally. I prefer those to earbuds.

What’s was your favorite TV show when you were a kid?
I loved Mission Impossible. Well, I loved the setup: “Your mission should you decide to accept it…” It was a plot I could always follow. And when you’re young, that’s important! Interestingly, I’ve never seen one of Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible movies.

What’s your favorite – pie, cake, or ice cream?
I gotta go with pie. banana cream if I had to choose. But, I like cherry, blueberry, apple. I like pie. Sadly, I don’t and can’t eat it as much as I’d like.

What’s the last song you’ve caught yourself singing in the shower?
Oh, what a beautiful morning from the musical, Oklahoma.

What book are you currently reading?
Presenting Buffalo Bill: The Man who Invented the Wild West.

What is your favorite sport?
I enjoy playing tennis. I like watching golf.

What/Who makes you laugh?
Stephen Colbert. Trevor Noah. Seth Meyers. A whole slate of female and male standup comics.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Which movie do you know from start to finish?
Hmm, maybe OLIVER! It was the first play I ever did. I was 11. And I had just seen the movie in theaters and thought at the time, “Gee, I wish I could have been in that movie!” A year later Billings, High School (where I grew up) produced it. I was cast as the Artful Dodger. I was bitten by the bug as they say. So, I ended up buying the movie and watching it a lot when VHS came out.

What job could you never ever do?
Be an agent. I am just a terrible salesman. If I had to be responsible for finding a bunch of struggling actors work! Nightmare.

What was your first car?
A hand-me-down Rambler back in high school. It had a front seat that folded all the way back – no bucket seats – so you could have an instant bed.

What’s your favorite summer activity?
Just hanging at the beach sounds good to me.

If you were a pro athlete instead of an actor, what sport would it be?
Tennis. I play in a weekly ladder. singles. Which means, if you win, you go up the ladder, if you lose, you go down. It’s a really great workout. I’m not at the top of the ladder by any means, but I’m competitive. I’ve always admired Roger Federer.

Who is the most famous person you’ve met?
Bill Clinton, at a fundraising event at some wealthy person’s house in Bel Air. I got a pic with the former president just before he left office. It was at the time when I had some peculiar facial hair – so it’s not one of my favorite shots.

What’s your favorite amusement park?
Disney World. ABC used to have Super Soap Weekends in Orlando every November. All the ABC soaps were invited. It was really fun, the actors had total VIP treatment. And my band would play on Saturday evenings. Every actor had a chaperone. Honestly, I got spoiled – Disneyland isn’t the same without a chaperone!
