Emilia Clarke has been forced to keep her mouth shut when it comes to Game of Thrones spoilers for over eight years. But, because the final season is premiering in less than a couple of weeks, the actress will finally be able to talk about all the secret storylines.
And, though she tried her hardest to not spill any secrets, she did end up telling one person how the exciting HBO show ends its long run — or at least that’s what she told one talk show host.
While appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, April 3, the actress revealed she spilled the beans to her mother because she knows her mom won’t tell anyone else. In fact, she thinks she’s probably already forgotten!
“I’ve got to be honest, I did … I wasn’t supposed to, I told my mum. The good thing about telling my mom was that she’s a vault. Because she’s [already] forgotten it. If she falls asleep on a plane, I’m quite worried she’s going to say it [talking in her sleep] and not know it happened.”
The 32-year-old, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, also revealed she started crying when she read the scripts for the final season. I went for a very long walk … I couldn’t quite handle that. It should have been raining, it was that kind of a moment,” she said.
Not to mention, Clarke also opened up about suffering from two brain aneurysms while filming the first two seasons of Game of Thrones. Though it was completely terrifying to go through something so life-threatening, it did give her a greater appreciation for life in general.
“Being completely honest, it made me petrified most of the time. I wish I could sit here and say, ‘I was like, let’s go jump out of a plane.’ But I did do Game of Thrones, which was similar, certain seasons.”
