Sophie Turner has been a part of the Game of Thrones (GOT) family since the very beginning as Sansa Stark, but that doesn’t mean she demands the same amount of money as some of the other characters.

In fact, it was revealed her co-star — and kind of older brother — Kit Harington (Jon Snow) gets paid more than she does. Though that would bother other actors, the 23-year-old understands why.

In an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR UK, Turner explained that while she definitely supports gender equality and the very important Time’s Up movement, she also realizes Harington’s character, Jon Snow, has a bigger storyline than she does.

“Now, you see women in the camera departments, producing, directing. It’s exciting. Kit got more money than me, but he had a bigger storyline. And for the last series, he had something crazy like 70 night-shoots, and I didn’t have that many. I was like, ‘You know what… you keep that money,’” she shared.

Though she may not work quite as much as Harington, that doesn’t mean her character hasn’t gone through some serious stuff during her travels in Westeros — from The North down to King’s Landing and back.

From watching her father get executed by the abusive boy king she was set to marry to being brutally raped her “husband” (a different man) and manipulated by Petyr Baelish, AKA Littlefinger, Sansa has dealt with a lot throughout the seven seasons so far.

“Initially, I didn’t feel there was anything that stayed with me from all the things Sansa went through. But though I think it hasn’t affected me emotionally, I did start thinking about the domestic abuse and rape, and it spurred this little part of me that might be an activist,” she shared.
