The Real Reason Tyler Christopher Left General Hospital

It looks like Tyler Christopher is just as disappointed as fans that he never made that promised return to General Hospital.

When Christopher left GH last spring soon after winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor, word was it was just a temporary departure.

Even at the GH fan club luncheon over the summer, the actor said he would be returning to the show in the fall. Then, a few weeks later that all changed and Christopher’s exit became permanent.

Christopher recently opened up about his departure in the December 5 issue of Soaps In Depth, explaining that financial reasons kept him away.

“We couldn’t come to an agreement that made sense for me and my family,” the actor said. “As we all know, the economics of daytime have changed. As a result of that, I just couldn’t make this work.”

However, he had nothing but good things to say about his two decades on the show, reminiscing about all the people he began working with back in 1996 who grew up along with him. They include Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky), Amber Tamblyn (ex-Emily), and Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth).

Despite wanting to return to GH, Christopher has kept himself busy with movies–namely films called The New Wife and Pretty Broken.

So, it looks like the actor has embarked on a new point in his career, but without Nikolas, something still seems missing from General Hospital.
