While the character of Hayden Barnes may have left General Hospital a couple of years ago to protect her daughter, Violet, fans of the show are still hoping that Rebecca Budig will one day return to Port Charles.

Rebecca Budig Connects With Her GH Co-Stars

After all, Budig hasn’t exactly lost touch with her past co-stars and even completed a project recently with her former on-screen love, Michael Easton (Hamilton Finn).

The daytime vet, who also played Michelle Bauer on Guiding Light and Greenlee Smythe on All My Children, took to Instagram last week to talk about her collaboration with Easton and the life-changing event that led to it.

“I had my daughter 7 years ago. When she was about 5 months old, I was diagnosed with post Partum depression and anxiety,” she wrote. “What I thought would be the easiest, most joyful time of my life turned out to be one of the hardest. Many women go through it, but the shame I felt was overwhelming. There is a ton of pressure when you become a mom. It starts with breast feeding and on and on and on. More on that later.”

Budig explained how she talked with Easton about what she was going through and he encouraged her to write everything down to get her feelings out. Years later, that would turn into something even more substantial.

“What came of that is a short film based on my experience,” Budig said. “I wrote and shot this film (under Michael’s direction), to share it with others in the hope that one woman won’t feel alone. That a loved one might open their eyes to how someone might be feeling.”

Titled, “About A Girl,” the short film looks at a new mom struggling with postpartum depression. She even added a link to a short trailer, on the official @aboutagirlfilm Instagram, which also shows Sherri Saum (ex-Vanessa Hart, Sunset Beach; ex-Keri Reynolds, One Life to Live) among the cast. “I’ll be sharing more about my film and my experience with post Partum in the upcoming weeks,” she concluded.

Finola Hughes (GH’s Anna Devane) was among many former co-stars who sent their love and support. “Look forward to seeing that,” she wrote. “Writing is the most important and healing tool for the soul. The act of creating changes the energy around an experience. Kudos for bringing us your journey.”
