All My Children’s Erica Kane went through just about every life obstacle the world could throw at her, as the heroine overcame one tragedy after another during the character’s 40-plus-year run on the show. Now, her portrayer, daytime legend Susan Lucci, is doing her part to help people stay safe and healthy during the coronavirus pandemic.

Susan Lucci Reaches Out

On her Instagram account, Lucci told fans that she self-reported her health status with @communityconnect.io, a new platform that is designed to help first responders stay prepared during the COVID-19 crisis, and she urges others to follow her lead.

The platform was created by Lucci’s son, Andreas Huber, in partnership with first responders across the country.

“They’ve made it available to everyone at no cost nationwide,” Lucci wrote. “It took me less than 2 minutes and now my local First Responders will have the information they need to better protect my family and our community.”

For those who want to register, she offers up the link in her bio: https://www.communityconnect.io/covid-19

Lucci is also sending a message to her fellow New Yorkers in an effort to keep spirits positive. On the City of New York’s Twitter page, Lucci is featured in a video where she notes “You might be inside but you’re inside in the greatest city on Earth.”

She expresses how she has every confidence that this COVID-19 is going to pass, and when it does, says people are going to come out of it better and stronger and smarter than ever before.

“I don’t say that lightly, we New Yorkers have been through a lot. There was 9/11, there was Hurricane Sandy, I know this is different, but each of those challenges we have met have been different,” she says.

Lucci pays tribute to “the amazing doctors, nurses and first responders” who are fighting the frontlines and doing the heavy lifting and urges people to do their part by not leaving their home.

“All we have to do is stay in. And all we have to do is stay in, in the greatest city in the world,” she says. “Be covered, be smart, wash your hands, wear gloves, be protected. Stay safe and sound.”
