Additional Daytime Emmy awards in the categories of Digital Drama Series were handed out on Sunday night and some familiar faces from broadcast soaps walked away as winners! The live ceremony, which clocked in at under an hour (!), was hosted by Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye; Eastsiders).

Digital Daytime Emmy Winners

Tristan Rogers, who has been playing dashing Robert Scorpio on General Hospital on and off since 1980, took home his first Daytime Emmy ever. He won the statuette for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Digital Drama Series for playing the part of Doc in Studio City.

“Congratulations to my dear friend @tristanrogers on his @DaytimeEmmys win for best supporting actor,” posted Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon, BB; ex-A.J., GH), who created, stars in, and co-wrote Studio City. “I told you [if] you trusted me you would take home the gold. I love you brother.”

Jade Harlow (ex-Jade, Passions; ex-Sheryl, Days of Our Lives) won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Digital Drama Series for her role as Lianna Ramos on The Bay.

“Oh, my God,” a joyful Harlow exclaimed upon winning. “Thirty seconds…okay. I didn’t really expect this so, I didn’t write a speech. Everybody was like ‘do you homework [and write a speech]’ and I didn’t. I’m really sorry! I really want to thank NATAS [the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences] and everybody who voted and took the time to watch everybody’s video. You have no idea how much I appreciate this!

“And I really want to thank everybody who has produced this show tonight to keep us safe and healthy during this pandemic,” Harlow added, noting the virtual awards show producers. “You’ve made us feel recognized and I know you’ve jumped through hoops to do it…I want to thank [executive producers] Gregori J. Martin and Wendy Riche and our writing team…and our entire cast and crew because it does take a village, it takes an army to make a show like this and without them, I am nothing…” You can read Harlow’s full speech in her Instagram post below.

Also, Kevin Spirtas (ex-Craig, DAYS) won the award for Outstanding Writing Team for a Digital Drama Series for the second year in a row for the series After Forever. He shares the award with former DAYS writer Michael Slade.

Other winners include Kristos Andrews (Pete Garrett, The Bay) for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor in a Digital Drama Series; Tina Benko (Helen, The Rehearsal) for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in Digital Drama Series; Lin Shaye (Diane, Eastsiders) for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Drama Series.

Gregori Martin won the award for Outstanding Directing Team for a Digital Drama Series for directing The Bay; Kristos Andrews, co-director, shares the award. At the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which were held in June, The Bay won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Digital Drama Series.
