General Hospital fans are still wondering why Franco Baldwin was killed off the soap last year and what that really did for Elizabeth Webber’s story. So far, all we know is that she is not over her late husband as the show continues pushing a couple down our throats that is just not working.
General Hospital Made A Mistake
If GH killed off Franco (Roger Howarth) to pair Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) with a man who hadn’t done heinous and murderous things due to a brain tumor, it picked the wrong man. While a lonely doctor and nurse falling in love after past hurts looks good on paper, it’s just not working onscreen and it’s to the detriment of two good characters who just don’t work together.
Elizabeth and Rebecca Herbst have been a part of the GH canvas for 25 years and we have seen her do her share of good and bad things, sometimes selfishly and sometimes just out of love. When she found Franco, an unlikely mate if there ever was one, she finally seemed at peace living the life she always dreamed of.
Finn (Michael Easton) is a fairly new character who has been in two enjoyable pairings, first with Elizabeth’s sister, Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig), and then with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). He even has a daughter with Hayden and the character’s return to take him off of Liz’s hands would be welcome for some.
Elizabeth and Finn: Awkward To Creepy
When it was clear GH wanted to put Liz and Finn together, it was awkward at first as the characters just don’t have chemistry. Every scene between them seemed forced, but now every scene between them seems somewhat disturbing as Finn seems to have taken over Elizabeth’s life and is borderline obsessed with her. He treats her as if she cannot think for herself and doesn’t see the pain she is going through, as medium Chelsea (Jen Ray) recently pointed out to him.
General Hospital: Move On
If this is supposed to make him look like a hero and savior, it’s not working. Instead, he looks like he is her stalker even if the story doesn’t head in that direction — and that does not a supercouple make.
