Who Exactly Was Dominique Stanton Baldwin On General Hospital?

Newer General Hospital fans may have been confused recently when newcomer Cody Bell announced that he was the son of Dominique Stanton and, therefore, Serena Baldwin’s half-brother. Who was this Dominique he spoke of, and how did she become a part of Scott Baldwin’s life?

GH: Who Was Dominique Stanton Baldwin?

It was 1991 when a woman named Dominque Taub (first played by Tawny Fere Ellis and then Shell Danielson) first appeared on the GH scene. She was a sad, deaf woman living in an unhappy marriage with Leopold Taub (Chip Lucia) on her family estate, Serenity. However, when Mac Scorpio (John J. York) arrived at Serenity one day, she fell in love with the dashing man and decided she needed to leave her marriage and follow Mac to Port Charles and make him her own.

Of course, Dominique’s husband was not happy, and he fought Mac for her. During a dangerous power struggle, the sound of gunshots miraculously restored Dominique’s hearing, but her romance with Mac was never meant to be. When she realized he had feelings for Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), it was quickly over between them.

General Hospital: Dominique Meets Scott Baldwin

Dominique had no problem moving on to the next man but didn’t plan to marry him. Too bad she got drunk in Vegas, turning her and Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner) into husband and wife. While she originally wanted the marriage annulled, Scott and Dominique ended up falling in love. Their happiness was short-lived, however, when Dominique was diagnosed with a brain tumor and learned she was dying.

Although Scott and Dominique were devastated by this news, Dominque decided that she would give Scott a child before she died. Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) granted this dying wish by agreeing to be Scott and Dom’s surrogate, and that is how Serena Baldwin (Carly Schroeder) came to be. Sadly, Dominique died before Serena was born, but she left her daughter a small fortune, which is the money Cody (Josh Kelly) is bitter about never seeing. Will this story be the one to bring Serena back to town for good? Perhaps…stay tuned.
