What Dante’s Exit Means for Lulu On General Hospital

General Hospital’s Lulu lost her soulmate, husband, and best friend, when Dante left Port Charles on a top-secret WSB assignment.

The move was inevitable, given Dominic Zamprogna’s decision to leave the soap after a 9-year run.

Now the show’s writers are faced with a tough task: keeping the fiery Lulu (Emme Rylan) formidable and fun, while her significant other is off the canvas.

It’s going to take some clever scripting and subtle changes, but the character can certainly remain vital and viable.

Now that Lulu and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) have kissed and made up, the best friends are facing a similar immediate future. They’re both operating as single moms.

As such, the soap will likely have them lean on each other for comfort, advice and support.

A great turn during Dante’s absence would be to have Maxie move in with Lulu. It would allow the two women to raise their children together. Plus, they’d find adult companionship in each other and fill a void in their lives at a time when they both desperately need it.

Working Girl
Fortunately, Lulu has a career as an investigative journalist, which mean she’ll be kept on the storyline forefront through her work. She’ll likely be featured prominently in the Kiki (Hayley Erin) vs Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva) lawsuit, as she covers the case.

It would be a great twist if Lulu’s the one who uncovers Kiki’s affair with Griffin (Matt Cohen) and is then forced to decide whether to report the truth or keep mum for the good of the case and her fondness for Kiki.

Man Oh Man
Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is the man on everyone’s hate list since Nathan’s demise. Then, there’s the fact that he allowed Jason (Steve Burton) to be held in captivity for five years. Someone’s going to have to give the guy a break and forgive him, eventually.

Why not have it be Lulu? Peter, after all, did give her her start as a reporter. Perhaps Lulu could write an expose about Peter’s tortuous childhood.

The turn would put a strain on Lulu’s recently mended relationship with Maxie, which would give them both something meaty and powerful to play.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
