Jason Made Serena More Dangerous to Tracy on General Hospital

Serena now knows Jason will protect the peace even when it means keeping Tracy in the dark.

Serena tried to trick Jason into signing away Michael’s proxy on General Hospital, and it failed almost immediately. Jason read the document, realized what she was doing, and got the truth out of her without much trouble. The bigger problem may be what happened next: Serena walked away with her secret intact and a clearer idea of exactly how far Jason is willing to go to avoid another war at Deception.

Key Takeaways

  • Serena’s attempt to trick Jason into signing over Michael’s proxy failed.
  • Jason realized Lucy was behind the scheme and got Serena to admit she was pressured into helping.
  • Serena left the confrontation with her secret protected after Jason agreed not to tell Tracy.
  • Jason’s decision to avoid another Deception war may have given Serena a better idea of how to work around him next time.

Serena’s Plan Collapses

Serena’s (Kelly Kruger) first attempt was not subtle. She pushed Jason (Steve Burton) to sign the document quickly by claiming a Korean business deadline was looming, but Jason refused to put his name on anything he had not read. Once he realized the paperwork would hand Michael’s (Rory Gibson) proxy to Serena, the entire plan collapsed before Lucy (Lynn Herring) could start measuring the curtains in Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) office.

Jason also knew Serena was covering for Lucy. Serena eventually admitted that her mother had pressured her into the scheme and claimed she had never wanted to deceive him in the first place. That confession mattered because it gave Jason a reason to see Serena as someone caught between Lucy and Tracy rather than as someone actively trying to take control.

Then Jason made the decision that could come back to haunt him. Serena begged him not to tell Tracy, and he agreed to keep quiet while they tried to maintain peace until Michael returned. That may have prevented an immediate explosion, but it also meant Serena left knowing Jason was willing to protect her from Tracy.

Serena May Find Another Way Around Tracy

Serena still wants to help Lucy regain control of Deception, and one failed document probably will not erase that goal. Now she knows Jason will read anything put in front of him, so repeating the same trick would be pointless. She also knows he prefers to avoid unnecessary conflict, which could be the more useful piece of information.

That opens the door for Serena to try something less obvious next time. Instead of tricking Jason outright, she could create a situation in which giving Lucy more authority appears to be the easiest way to keep Deception functioning. Jason’s instinct to solve problems efficiently may be exactly what Serena learns to work around.

The irony is that Jason kept Tracy out of this because he wanted fewer problems. If Serena uses that silence to take another shot at control, he may wind up giving Tracy a much bigger one later. Keeping the peace at Deception has rarely been this dangerous.
