Is This What Will Finally Turn Michael Against Sonny on General Hospital?

From the time he was a little boy, General Hospital’s Michael Corinthos Quartermaine has worshipped his adoptive dad, Sonny Corinthos. As a little red-headed smart-mouth, Michael didn’t care that Sonny had stolen him from Michael’s biological father, AJ Quartermaine.

General Hospital: A Strange Turn?

At one point, wee Michael was even willing to kill AJ in order to stay a Corinthos (though that story was later retconned to say he didn’t do it, after all). Michael didn’t turn on Sonny when Stepdaddy Dearest got him shot in the head and put into a coma. He briefly changed his name to Quartermaine when he was old enough to understand just what exactly Sonny (Maurice Benard) had done to AJ (Sean Kanan). But then he got over it and got with the mob-worshipping program again.

Generational Trauma

So how ironic would it be if the thing that drove a definitive wedge between the pair is Sonny trying to convince Michael (Chad Duell) to let Wiley spend time with his biological grandmother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros)?

Sonny wants Michael to give Nina a break with Wiley’s visitation so that Nina doesn’t sue for custody… and Sonny can keep sleeping with her without having to face the wrath of Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) about “that woman.”

General Hospital: Long Time Coming

Unfortunately, Carly has convinced Michael that “that woman,” is a danger to precious Wiley. Michael and Carly both want to pretend that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), not Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) is Wiley’s only mother. The way Carly and Sonny wanted to pretend he was Michael’s only father.

We also know how much Sonny and Michael are used to each getting their own way. If they fail to come to an agreement on this, Nina may inadvertently succeed where all the Quartermaines failed… in getting Sonny and Michael to go their separate ways.
