Brook Lynn wanted to save her marriage on General Hospital, even after Michael handed her a deeply cynical plan that involved waiting for Chase to screw up with Willow. She rejected that idea because she still believed Chase deserved better than manipulation. Then Chase turned around and revealed that he was already protecting himself from what he thought Brook Lynn might do to him. That changes the equation quite a bit.

Key Takeaways

  • Brook Lynn rejected Michael’s plan to wait for Chase to make a mistake with Willow.
  • Chase refused to move out because he feared Brook Lynn could later claim he abandoned her and Phoebe.
  • Chase’s legal concerns showed just how little trust remains in the marriage.
  • Brook Lynn may now have more reason to protect herself instead of simply trying to prove her loyalty.

Chase’s Distrust Put Brook Lynn on the Defensive

Michael (Rory Gibson) told Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) that Chase (Josh Swickard) would eventually fall into bed with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and give her exactly the ammunition she needed in a custody fight. Brook Lynn hated the idea and accused Michael of trying to use her marriage to get at Willow. She was right to push back because deliberately waiting for someone to fail is a terrible way to save anything.

Then Chase gave Brook Lynn a reason to wonder whether Michael’s advice was as awful as it sounded. She suggested that they get their own place and work on the marriage away from the Quartermaine pressure. Chase refused because he worried she might take baby Phoebe and later claim he abandoned them.

That accusation cut deeper than another argument about lies. Chase was not simply saying he did not trust Brook Lynn emotionally. He was already thinking about how her actions could affect him legally. Once the marriage gets to that point, everybody starts keeping emotional receipts.

Michael’s Advice Suddenly Looks Less Ridiculous

Brook Lynn clearly did not want to play games with Chase. She still defended him when Michael admitted he was hoping Willow would help destroy their marriage. That makes Chase’s suspicion even harder to swallow because Brook Lynn was actually trying not to weaponize the situation.

Chase may believe he is simply protecting himself, but that same logic works both ways. If he is making decisions based on what Brook Lynn might do in a future custody fight, why should she be expected to ignore what he might do with Willow? Michael’s plan remains ugly, but Chase just made self-protection sound perfectly reasonable.

That is the danger here. Brook Lynn could stop trying to prove she is trustworthy and start preparing for the possibility that Chase will never believe her anyway. Michael told her to let Chase make his own mistakes, and Chase may have just convinced her that standing back is safer than fighting for a marriage where she is already being treated like the opposition.
