A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Write-Off & Chef’s Kiss

The author’s opinions on GH are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

As always, I have complaints. But first, praise. Those scenes between Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Kevin and Mac (John J. York) were a *chef’s kiss* spectacular. So well-written. So well-acted.

But why oh why were we denied Felicia’s cathartic-less kiss-off to Ryan and glimpses into Kevin’s private Hell? Don’t TELL me, SHOW me.

I also have to take exception to Mac’s “Well, Cody’s Not Our Problem Because He’s Not Family” position. Does that actually jive with the man we know Mac to be?

Further GH Musings

* And the Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) story continues unabated.

* Big Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) fan here. HUGE. Love her to bits. I’ve always had a soft spot for characters who are truly their own worst enemies and who are funny about it and that’s pretty much Alexis in a nutshell. That said, I’m finding her…storyline(?)…with Gregory (Gregory Harrison) grating, so I can only imagine how you detractors out there are suffering.

* Danny and Rocco are teenagers you say Dante (Dominic Zamprogna)?! [Cut to me calculating exactly how old the boys would be in real-time and discovering that they’re actually, technically, preteens. A classic case of SORASing, or an even more classic case of Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris not being aware of the finer details?]

* I wish I could get behind this whole “Let’s Torture Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) By Emasculating Him” storyline, but it’s falling pretty flat for me.

* Why is it always poor Trina (Tabyana Ali) who has to take everything on the chin and be thankful for it? Then again, it’s been made crystal clear that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) is the money character, so, of course, she’d have to be sprung from Spring Ridge somehow.
